Chris Clearfield is a principal at System Logic. Before starting System Logic, he worked as a derivatives trader at a prestigious proprietary trading firm distinguished by its ability to understand and hedge risk. After years as a trader in New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, his role matured from trading to analyzing the financial and regulatory risks inherent in the business of technologically complex high-speed trading and devising policies to mitigate those risks. He holds an A.B. from Harvard College, where he studied physics and biology, and is a licensed commercial pilot.

Domain Experts

Anette Mikes is a Full Professor at Université de Lausanne’s Faculty of business and Economics. In 2012, Professor Mikes co-authored an influential article for Harvard Business Review entitled Managing Risks: A New Framework, which argues that a non-rule-based, bias-aware approach is needed to successfully manage organizations’ strategic and external risks. In 2010, she launched (with Professor Robert Kaplan) Harvard Business School’s new executive education program, Risk Management for Corporate Leaders. She received her Ph.D. from the London School of Economics (LSE), where her dissertation, “Enterprise Risk Management in Action,” was the first field-based research study on risk management in financial institutions.

Robert Filippi is a mechanical engineer and construction engineer with over forty years of experience. His expertise ranges from forensic engineering to the design and construction of major healthcare projects, high rise commercial and residential buildings, and specialty projects such as major airport terminals. At Weill Cornell Medical College, for example, he oversaw the construction of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems of the state-of-the-art Belfer Research Building.

Simona Malton is a consultant and financial-analyst who has held positions at Oliver Wyman, Mercer, and Google. Throughout her career, she has used her quantitative skills to help leading European institutions develop their business strategy and implement effective risk management and controls. At Oliver Wyman, Simona’s expertise centered on credit risk management for financial institutions, including the implementation and validation of the Basel framework, as well as strategic engagements for insurers and reinsurers. Her most recent work has focused on developing pension risk management solutions for corporate institutions. She holds an A.B. in mathematics from Harvard College.
